For Alex, yoga is a practice of coming home to our bodies, our breath, and ourselves. Alex values the inquiry offered by Tara Brach, “who would we be if we believed there’s nothing wrong with us?” What would it feel like to embody our power and choose fierce, fearless love? Alex’s classes aim to create a community space where we can show up in our bodies with courage and vulnerability and get free together.

Alex interprets the teachings of ancient yoga philosophy through everyday life experiences. In addition to formal yoga training, they draw from the teachings of Tara Brach and Pema Chodron, their dance teachers Christal Brown, Laurel Jenkins and Meshi Chavez, their peers in dance, the writing of Adrienne Maree Brown, Ross Gay, Sonya Renee Taylor, Mariame Kabba, the wisdom of their friends and mentors, and many others.

Alex shows up unapologetically as themselves, bringing their expansive curiosity for the body and their open heart. Influenced by their experience in improvisational dance, their style is grounding, honest, playful and encourages intuitive movement. They began practicing Yoga in grade school and completed their 200hr Vinyasa YTT at Laughing River Yoga in 2021. Alex’s studies are ever evolving through workshops and courses in yoga, somatics, dance, anatomy and meditation.
